The Best TV Shows Of October 2022

October was one hell of a month for TV shows. It was filled to the brim with anticipated new shows as well as a bunch of relevant sequels of varying genres that kept the vast majority of viewers entertained throughout the month.
The month had 8 relevant sequels of shows which aren't exactly hyped in the geek community, but still added flavor to the month's roster.
The first sequel on the list is the 2nd season of the Emmy winning TV show, The White Lotus. Similar to its first season, it's displayed astounding production values so far, while lacking that intriguing flare in its story that captivate fans of the mystery genre.
HBO Max also released the 3rd Season of Pennyworth and the 2nd season of Avenue 5, both fairly plausible sequels to these mandane shows.
The two animated sequels of October, Big Mouth Season 6 and Central Park Season 2 were both hilarious and extremely fun.
The most incredible sequel last month was the 2nd season of One of Us Is Lying. A sequel that served a truly thrilling whodunit story and managed to be entertaining throughout its run.
Another banger sequel in the month of October was the 2nd season of Gangs of London, that once again served an engaging story filled with electrifying fights.
The 2nd season of 2021 sleeper hit show- Chucky, with the addition of WWE's own Liv Morgan to its cast, has delivered an exhilirating story so far.
When it comes to New Shows, October was by far the most stacked month of the second half of the year so far.
Netflix led the pack of TV networks that made October colourful, with impressive new TV releases constituting half the total number released in the entire month.
We got a vast collection of new shows in October covering various genres, and to show just how flooded the month was, I'll be recommending 15 new shows instead of the usual 10.

TOP 15 BEST NEW SHOWS OF OCTOBER 2022

15) LET THE RIGHT ONE IN
(Horror, Drama)

Based on the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Let The Right One In is an American psychological thriller  centered on Mark, a man who's daughter Eleanor was turned into a vampire years ago.
He does everything he can to provide blood for his daughter for her survival, while also making relevant effort to find a cure for her situation.
It's a show that some will find really intriguing, however it doesn't pack as much a punch as it should given it's setting as a horror-drama, making it fitting for its spot on this list.

14) ONI: THUNDER GOD'S TALE
(Fantasy, Drama)

Based on Japanese folklore, the Netflix animated TV show- Oni: Thunder God's Tale is set in a world filled with gods and monsters, where a young girl named Onari is determined to unlock her special powers and save her people from the mythical beasts known as the Oni.
It's a really well made animation with a typical yet mildly captivating story.
It does have a limited scope of appeal given the fact that it is a kids animation, but it's good enough to be enjoyed by adults as well.

13) THE MIDNIGHT CLUB
(Horror, Drama)

Based on the 1994 novel by Christopher Pike, Mike Flanagan's The Midnight Club is centered on 8 terminally ill patients living at the Brightcliffe Hospice Manor. They form a group called the midnight club to tell horrific stories at night and explore supernatural mysteries in the real world as well.
The side stories told by the characters are really thrilling and captivating, almost having the effect of an anthology.
However, the main story and characters barely got any development throughout the first season's run, and this dwindled the overall worth of the series.

12) SHARANTAM
(Drama, Thriller)

The Apple TV+ drama thriller Sharantam is based on the best selling novel of the same name by Gregory David Roberts.
The story is centered on Lin Ford, a rookie paramedic turned fugitive residing in 1980's Bombay, struggling to adapt, avoid trouble and find redemption, even in the midst of a developing romance between himself and an enigmatic woman named Karla.
Charlie Hunnam brings a remarkable performance to the table in this lead role.
The story does have an appealing setting filled with high end action and thrills right off its start, but it feels far too stretched in length and ends up not being as engaging as it presents itself to be.

11) THE PERIPHERAL
(Sci-fi, Action)

The Peripheral is an Amazon Prime Sci-fi TV show based on the 2014 novel by William Gibson.
It's set in a futuristic world where an ambitious girl Flynne, while trying to hold her family together discovers she's doomed in the future.
She also discovers a link between her impending death and an alternate world, which she now explores in order to make things better for herself and her family.
With Chloe Grace Moretz as it's charming lead, the show displays outstanding production values in the areas of visual effects and production design.
While this is indeed a great virtue for a sci-fi show, the story itself is one that prioritizes style over substance, jumping right into its action and complexities without properly building a foundation for its narrative.

10) GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
(Horror, Drama)

Cabinet of Curiosities is a horror anthology Tvshow on Netflix presented by the legendary Guillermo Del Toro with stories from renowned horror directors.
It consists of 8 distinct thriller stories that vary in both narrative complexity and overall quality.
These episodic stories did wax and wane in terms of worth, but the third episode titled "The Autopsy" directed by David Prior was by far the best among the bunch.
It was wildly innovative, presented in a stunningly unsettling and visually exquisite manner.
Most of the remaining stories had a gratifyingly thrilling effect as well.

9) !GARCIA!
(Mystery, Thriller)

!García! is a Spanish thriller TVshow on HBO Max based on the graphic novel by Santiago Garcia and Luis Bustos.
It's based in Spain where a reporter- Antonia accidentally unravels a decade-old plot regarding a super soldier created in the 1950's by the Francoist Secret Society named García.
García, who was previously frozen, freed by Antonia,  gets confused with the current state of the world, and seeks the assistance of Antonia to survive.
The show established a split timeline narrative, the past timeline showcasing the life of García in his time period leading up to his predicament, and the present timeline highlighting the chaos that erupt from such a discovery.
It's an engaging show with proper buildup to it's mystery, and thrills to be found in several developments of the story.

8) THE BASTARD SON AND THE DEVIL HIMSELF
(Drama, Thriller)

Based on the Halfbad trilogy by Sally Green, the British Netflix fantasy series, The Bastard Son And The Devil Himself is centered on Nathan Bryne, the illegitimate child of a man known as the most dangerous witch named Marcus Edge.
While Nathan is caught in the middle of a conflict between rivaling witch clans, he embarks on a journey with his friends Annalise and Gabriel to find his father and learn more about himself, overcoming multiple obstacles along the way.
It's one of those shows that instantly catches your attention with all its thrilling fights, sizzled with displays of magic and gore backed by its fantastic visuals.
It indeed provides high entertainment value that's thankfully not at the expense of proper storytelling and character development.
It's an underrated Netflix show that's bound to at least entertain you.

7) STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI
(Sci-fi, Action)

The latest Star Wars Show, Tales Of The Jedi is an anthology miniseries created by Dave Filoni, consisting of short stories of the Jedi from the prequel trilogy era, particularly surrounding the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku.
With extravagant visuals and production design to illuminate its scenery, this show went great lengths in telling impactful stories of two prominent side characters in the Star Wars franchise.
The best episode in the bunch was the fourth titled "The Sith Lord" by Saul Ruiz. Similar to the other episodes, it had exhilarating fight sequences, but qwith a narrative that cut much deeper than the rest.

6) THE PLAYLIST
(Drama)

The Swedish Netflix docu drama miniseries - The Playlist is a tale of the creation of one of the biggest streaming platforms - Spotify, based on "Spotify Untold" by Sven Carlson and Jonas Leijonhufvud.
It highlights Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon's journey in revolutionizing the music industry with their new streaming platform.
Given the level of impact that Spotify has on modern society, it's indeed a necessary enlightenment, one that's profoundly executed in this show.
The storytelling is incredibly elaborate, superbly covering all creative and corporate facets of Spotify's creation with strong performances from its entire cast.

5) A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY
(Crime, Drama)

A Friend Of The Family is an American drama miniseries based on the 2017 documentary- Abducted In Plain Sight , which covers the harrowing true story concerning the Broberg family.
Jan Broberg, one of the daughters in the family was kidnapped multiple times and brainwashed by Robert Berchtold, a man who presented himself as a family friend to the Brobergs but ended up being their worst nightmare.
Drama thrillers of this nature aren't scarce this year, but this show proved itself to be a solid entry to these ranks through a visceral narrative that conveys the tension surrounding its characters immaculately.
The cast did an incredible job in their respective roles, and with the proper execution of a tale of deception and desperation, it's undoubtedly an impactful show.

4) KAREN PIRIE
(Crime, Thriller)

Karen Pirie is an ITV crime thriller based on the book series from Val McDermid.
The story focuses on Detective Karen Pirie, whom soon after being promoted to historic cases unit, reopens the case of a murdered bar maid, which leads to a discovery of flaws in the original 1995 enquiry and a new ambition by the young detective to solve this case.
Even while we've seen a lot of investigative thrillers come and go, the good ones never fail to leave their mark, and Karen Pirie is indeed one of the good ones.
With just 3 episodes of a hour and a half each in runtime, this show presented an extraordinarily thrilling narrative, impeccably layering a whodunit mystery in a way that's bound to keep viewers engaged at every point.
Lauren Lyle's lead performance was Impeccable, and the story managed to be just the right amount of dramatic to make its experience truly wonderful.

3) SAS: ROGUE HEROES
(Action, Drama)

Steve Knight's SAS: Rogue Heroes is a 6-part war drama based on the book of the same name by Ben MacIntyre.
The story is set during the 2nd World War in 1941 and focuses on the creation of the Special Air Service (SAS).
It was formed by David Stirling, an eccentric officer who was hospitalized after a training accident, which led him to ponder about how to change the traditional command units, leading to the creation of the SAS.
From the brilliant mind behind Peaky Blinders comes yet another wildly entertaining show.
Connor Swindells lead the pack with an outstanding performance, in a story filled with action, comedy and drama, all perfectly executed.
It gives the vibe of a Hollywood classic with its witty humor, added to the intensity of a war drama and great storytelling to make an irresistible TV experience.

2) FROM SCRATCH
(Drama, Romance)

At the top of everything Netflix released last month comes From Scratch, a limited drama inspired by Tembe Locke's memoir of the same name.
The story follows Amy Wheeler, an American student studying in Italy where she eventually meets and falls in love with Sicilian chef, Lino.
The story gives a full account of their love story, and tension builds up when their happily ever after gets threatened by Lino's declining health condition.
So far as Romance shows go this year, this is by far the best one yet.
Zoe Saldana leads with a truly phenomenal performance to match the equally compelling performance of Eugenio Mastrandra in a beautiful love story.
The two characters in love are Impeccably developed, and the love story between them is eloquently layered to cover every triumph and turmoil they face in their romance.
It's a simple boy-meets-girl romance story told in the most captivating and enthralling fashion, and it's bound to grip your heart if you give it a chance.

1) THE DEVIL'S HOUR
(Drama, Mystery, Thriller)

Amazon Prime stole the win in the month of October with their best show of the year so far, The Devil's Hour.
This an original British drama thriller centered on a woman named Lucy Chambers, who's life is affected by multiple incomprehensible events such as her condition of waking up at exactly 3:33 AM every morning, a time known as the 'Devil's Hour'.
While dealing with that, Lucy also has a son named Isaac who's emotionless and unnaturally withdrawn. Her mother is also exhibiting weird symptoms such as talking to empty chairs, and her entire house shows signs of being haunted by the echoes of another person's life.
As if that weren't troubling enough, her name is inexplicably connected to a string of murders that's been occuring in her area, and Lucy is now determined to solve her problems and catch the serial killer guilty of those murders.
You can already tell from the synopsis that there's so much going on in this story, particularly in the life of the unusually unfortunate protagonist.
But rest assured, because the most astounding thing about this series is how, even with all the different individually intense narrative aspects, everything is exquisitely layered in a coherent and visceral fashion.
The different chaotic narrative vectors all connect into a single harmonic story filled with impeccably executed twists and mind-fucks to make its overaching mystery incredibly compelling.
The finale of the first season is honestly one of the most mind-blowing finales I've seen all year.
An excellent thriller finale that's so eye-opening it makes everything that transpired in the series incredibly clear, by unraveling the hidden truths and revealing the true nature of the story through mind-bending dialogue.
Peter Capaldi proved his extraordinary talent once again with his haunting portrayal of Gideon Shepherd, and Jessica Raine gave nothing less than a captivating performance in her lead role.

Ensure to try out a great number of shows on this list if you haven't already, because the shows listed here are definitely the best ones of the past month.
